RESIDENT SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE

Florida Statutes 626.015 defines a “SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE” as individuals employed by insurers or managing general agents, for the purpose of assisting general lines agent in negotiating and effecting insurance contracts when accompanied by a licensed general lines agent.  No such person shall be licensed a general lines agent in this state.  This does not apply to life insurance.

          Application Qualifications:

  • Complete an online application for License and submit appropriate fees.   Apply for license

  • Be a natural person at least 18 years of age.

  • Be a resident of the state of Florida.

  • Be a United States citizen or legal alien who possesses a work authorization from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Services.

  • Be fingerprinted at one of the Department's fingerprint sites.  (Link directly to locations and additional information)

  • If licensed in another state within three years, provide a Letter of Clearance.

  • Must be employed by an admitted insurer or a licensed managing general agents.

Special Notes

No examination is required.

The department shall not, however issue any license and appointment to any individual who does not, at he time of issuance and throughout the existence of the Florida license, hold a license as agent or broker issued by his or her home state; nor to any individual who is employed by any insurer as a service representative or who is a managing general agent in any state whether or not also licensed in another state as an agent or broker.
