TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) — It's Hurricane Preparedness Week. Wednesday's topic: Updating Your Insurance.

First, you should have an insurance check-up once a year.

Second, you should make sure you have flood insurance. That's different from renter's insurance and takes 30 days before it takes effect.

You should also learn about your flood risk and flood insurance options for your area.
