CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) -The official start of hurricane season is right around the corner and Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey is reminding people to start preparing now.
Causey along with other insurance department staff will be hosting a series of town hall meetings throughout Eastern Carolina to help people prepare for disasters and remind them to purchase flood insurance now considering it takes 30-days to take effect.
People can ask questions and go over insurance policies with staff at the Carteret County courthouse at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Representatives will also be at Goldsboro City Hall Thursday at noon.
Both events are free and anyone is welcome to attend.
