TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a proclamation in support of the Nation of Israel following the terrorist attacks this past Saturday, October 7^th. The proclamation was delivered to the Chabad Lubavitch of the Panhandle and FSU during the dedication of the new Chabad House.

PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, on Saturday, October 7^th, 2023, in an act of war, hundreds of terrorists infiltrated Israel at several locations and at the same time, massive rocket barrages were launched at Israeli territories; and

WHEREAS, this heinous act constitutes a far-reaching terrorist attack on Israel’s civilians in the midst of the Jewish festival of Simchat Torah, when hundreds of thousands of Israelis were on their way to synagogues to celebrate the holiday and Shabbat in their communities; and

WHEREAS, thus far, over 900 people, mostly civilians, have been murdered in Israel, another 2,600 have been reported as wounded, and over 130 Israelis have been classified as missing or captives; and

WHEREAS, the State of Florida is home to roughly 650,000 Jews, the third largest Jewish population in the United States; and

WHEREAS, the State of Florida has signed historic legislation that prohibits Florida from investing in companies that discriminate against Israel, combats antisemitism in our state, and strengthens and supports Florida’s Jewish community; and

WHEREAS, I, CFO Patronis, have worked to defend Florida’s Jewish community and have fought to strengthen and solidify Florida’s steadfast and unwavering relationship with Israel; and

WHEREAS, the State of Florida adamantly denounces these outrageous acts of violence, and asks other states to follow Florida’s lead in condemning Iranian-backed terrorism.  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Chief Financial Officer and State Fire Marshal of the State of Florida does hereby strongly support

THE NATION OF ISRAEL

and stands unequivocally with the Jewish community.
