CFO Jimmy Patronis: Florida is Fighting Back Against the Central Bank Digital Currency

~Praises Governor DeSantis for His Leadership to Protect Floridians~

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the passage of Senate Bill 7054, which defines “Central Bank Digital Currency,” and prohibits its use as money within Florida’s Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). SB 7054 will now move on to the Governor for signature.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “The last thing that our country needs is a federally controlled Centralized Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) weaponized by the Biden Administration. It’s just another way for Floridians to have their vital financial information surveilled by the Government. No one asked for this and Florida won’t let it stand. Thank you to Senator DiCeglie and Representative Duggan for spearheading this legislation, for their commitment to protecting the privacy of Floridians, and making sure that the content of their wallets are protected from federal overreach. Your privacy and freedom are under attack and thankfully we have leaders like Governor DeSantis fighting to Keep Florida Free.”
