CFO Jimmy Patronis Applauds Senator Rick Scott’s Homeowners Premium Tax Reduction Act

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement in support of Senator Rick Scott’s Homeowners Premium Tax Reduction Act. This proposed legislation will provide American homeowners an above-the-line tax deduction of up to $10,000 of premiums paid for homeowners’ insurance annually at their primary residence.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Senator Rick Scott is fighting for insurance relief, and I fully support it. The Biden-Harris administration has been a disaster for homeowners nationwide, putting homeownership out of reach for millions of young and hardworking Americans. For those with homes, inflation and sky-high insurance costs are crowding out groceries, vacations and basic living expenses. We are doing everything we can to fight the Biden-Harris national insurance crisis. Coupled with the successful My Safe Florida Home program and the Home Hardening Sales Tax Exemption, Senator Scott’s solution-oriented approach to deduct up to $10,000 in annual insurance premiums from your taxes would be a huge win for the state of Florida and the nation. We’ve got to climb out of this mess and restore the American Dream. The federal Homeowners Premium Tax Reduction Act would provide direct relief for homeowners and move us closer to making insurance affordable again.”
