CFO Jimmy Patronis: Search for ‘Love’ this Valentine’s Day by Visiting FLTreasureHunt.gov

~ Florida has more than $21 Million in Unclaimed Property From People with the Names of Love, Valentine, Heart and More… Have you searched lately? ~

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This Valentine’s Day, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis is helping Floridians find “love” by looking for accounts with Valentine’s-themed names and urging them to search Florida’s Unclaimed Property database. Currently, Florida has more than $21 million in unclaimed property for residents with names such as Love, Valentine, Heart and more. Additionally, since CFO Patronis took office in 2017, more than $2.7 billion in Unclaimed Property has been returned to Floridians.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Share the love with your friends, family, and even your business this Valentine’s Day by claiming your Unclaimed Property today! To add some excitement to your Valentine’s Day, we have created a list of Valentine-themed names with available funds per name. If any of these words are in your name or business name, search now for unclaimed property at FLTreasureHunt.gov. It’s your money — treat yourself this Valentine’s Day to some extra cash and claim it now!”

Unclaimed property is a financial asset that is unknown or lost, or has been left inactive, unclaimed or abandoned by its owner. The most common types of unclaimed property are dormant bank accounts, unclaimed insurance proceeds, stocks, dividends, uncashed checks, deposits, credit balances and refunds. Unclaimed property also includes contents from abandoned safe deposit boxes in financial institutions. Unclaimed property assets are held by business or government entities (holders) for a set period of time, usually five years. If the holder is unable to locate, re-establish contact with the owner and return the asset, it is reported and remitted to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Unclaimed Property. To search for unclaimed property or to claim an account, go online to FLTreasureHunt.gov.
