Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia Announces Arrest of Two Criminal Aliens in Staged Vehicle Collision Insurance Fraud Case
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Blaise Ingoglia announced the arrest of two criminal aliens by the Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigation Division. Samil Morales Pena and Glenys Pena Perez were arrested in a staged motor vehicle collision insurance fraud case. Both Morales Pena and Pena Perez were illegal aliens present in the United States.
Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said, “Illegal immigration puts law-abiding Floridians at far too high a risk. The two illegal aliens arrested in this case endangered the lives of other innocent drivers on the road, which is sadly something that we have seen far too often recently. I am proud of our office’s work on this case to bring these criminals to justice and for the support of the Trump Administration in ending the illegal immigration crisis that has plagued our nation.”
Video footage showed that Morales Pena and Pena Perez participated in three separate vehicle collisions before pulling over and getting out of the car. Morales Pena and Pena Perez filed insurance claims for a total of $371,176.75 in medical and vehicle repair bills, and compensation for injuries.
Further investigation revealed that Morales Pena and Pena Perez were in the United States illegally. After CID reaffirmed their immigration status with ICE, both individuals were arrested and transported to a correctional center.
