CFO Jimmy Patronis: New Technology System Brings Florida into 21st Century

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis spoke to members of the House Government Operations & Technology Appropriations Subcommittee to provide an update on the Florida Planning, Accounting, and Ledger Management (PALM) Project and Hurricane Michael recovery.

 

“You are seeing the single largest investment in your lifetime, your home, destroyed. And you are trying to put the pieces together knowing you may never see your wedding photos again,” said CFO Jimmy Patronis on the emotional toll of disaster recovery.

 

Speaking on the current accounting and financial management system and the importance of the PALM project, CFO Patronis said, “I ask you or even ask the audience in the room does anybody have a piece of electronics that they count on today from 1980? There's not a single person here that would raise their hand.”
