CFO Patronis: We Must Support Florida’s First Responders
2/28/2022
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued the following statement on the Senate Appropriation Committee’s favorable hearing of House Bill 1563, Homestead Property Tax Exemptions for Classroom Teachers, Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, Child Welfare Professionals and Servicemembers, sponsored by Representative Tomkow. This legislation works to ensure Florida’s first responders receive additional homestead tax exemptions. The bill now goes to the Senate Floor.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “I tell people all the time that we don’t have a good economy in our state without a robust safety net of first responders working in the background every day. Our first responders have our backs at a moment’s notice, and we must always have theirs. With rising inflation impacting every Florida household, this is a much needed tax cut for our frontline workers who dedicate themselves every day to protecting Florida communities. I want to thank Representative Tomkow for her hard work on this good bill and thank you to Senator Brodeur for his work on the Senate companion bill.”
