Daytona Beach, FL - On July 14, 2005 Detective Greg Kunkle of the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations arrested a suspect in connection with an arson fire to a single-family residence that was occupied by three adults, two of which are hearing impaired. The fire occurred on July 11, 2005 at approximately 3:30 a.m. and caused extensive damage to the residence leaving the family homeless.
A joint investigation by the Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations and the Daytona Beach Police Department developed sufficient information to believe that Frederick L. Moses, a 26-year-old male, intentionally started this fire. The fire originated in a room where the relative typically slept while visiting. The suspect is a former acquaintance of a relative of the family who frequently stays in the home. The suspect was also arrested for Violation of an Injunction issued for the Protection against Domestic Violence.
The Bureau of Fire and Arson Investigations is the law enforcement branch of the Division of State Fire Marshal.
