CFO Jimmy Patronis Statement on Signing of Catalytic Converter Anti-theft Legislation
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following Governor Ron DeSantis signing Senate Bill 306 into law. This legislation creates the "Catalytic Converter Antitheft Act"; which addresses tampering with and theft of catalytic converters.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “The theft of catalytic converters has been rampant throughout the state of Florida, and our law enforcement professionals have been battling catalytic converter theft in our communities for some time now. It’s a dangerous crime that puts all vehicle owners in harm’s way. This new law will provide more teeth in the fight to prevent these types of crimes and will ensure Florida consumers are protected from bad actors. A huge thank you to Governor DeSantis for signing this legislation and to Senator Boyd and Representative Hawkins for working hard this past legislative session to keep Florida safe.”
