CFO Patronis Legislative Update for April 12, 2023

Senate Bill 246 – Florida Kidcare Program Eligibility (Senator Calatayud) – This legislation increases the income eligibility threshold for coverage under the Florida Kidcare program; enrollees under the program are based on a tiered system of uniform premiums and federal approval through a waiver or state plan amendment.

  • Senate Bill 246 was reported favorable in the Senate Health and Human Services Appropriations Committee today.

Senate Bill 1184 – Agricultural Lands (Senator Collins) – This bill increases the nonresidential farm building just value threshold for certain special assessment and authorizes construction or installation of housing for migrant farmworkers on certain lands.

  • Senate Bill 1184 was reported favorable in the Senate Finance and Tax Committee today.

House Bill 1343 - Agricultural Lands (Representative Tuck) – This bill increases the nonresidential farm building just value threshold for certain special assessment and authorizes construction or installation of housing for migrant farmworkers on certain lands.

  • House Bill 1343 was reported favorable in the House Ways and Means Committee today.

Senate Bill 748 – My Safe Florida Home Program (Senator Boyd) – This legislation will expand eligibility requirements so more Floridians can protect their homes against storms and reduce premiums.

  • Senate Bill 746 was reported favorable in the Senate Agriculture, Environment, and General Government Appropriations Committee today.

Senate Bill 1158 – Department of Financial Services (Senator DiCeglie) – This legislation provides measures to allow for firefighters’ charitable donations by creating a Direct Support Organization (DSO) to support financial efforts to protect their communities and provide life-saving equipment and resources.

  • Senate Bill 1158 was reported favorable in the Senate Agriculture, Environment, and General Government Appropriations Committee today.

House Bill 487 – Department of Financial Services (Representative Salzman) – This legislation provides measures to allow for firefighters’ charitable donations by creating a Direct Support Organization (DSO) to support financial efforts to protect their communities and provide life-saving equipment and resources.

  • House Bill 487 was reported favorable in the House Appropriations Committee today.
