~ Florida has More Than $28 Million in Unclaimed Property from People with the Names of Gold, Lucky, Green and More… Have You Searched Lately? ~

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This St. Patrick’s Day, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis is opening the vault and looking for Floridians with “St. Patrick’s Day-themed names” and urging them to search Florida’s Unclaimed Property database. Currently, Florida has more than $28 million in unclaimed property for Floridians with names including words like Green, Lucky, Gold and more. Additionally, since CFO Patronis took office in 2017, more than $2.3 billion has been returned to Floridians in unclaimed property.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Try your luck and fill your pockets with some extra green this St. Patrick’s Day! To add some excitement to your St. Patrick’s Day, we have created a list of St. Patrick’s Day-themed names with available funds per name. If any of these words are in your name or business name, I encourage you to start your search today for unclaimed property at FLTreasureHunt.gov. Treat yourself this St. Patrick’s Day to some extra cash and search now!”

Unclaimed property is a financial asset that is unknown or lost, or has been left inactive, unclaimed or abandoned by its owner. The most common types of unclaimed property are dormant bank accounts, unclaimed insurance proceeds, stocks, dividends, uncashed checks, deposits, credit balances and refunds. Unclaimed property also includes contents from abandoned safe deposit boxes in financial institutions. Unclaimed property assets are held by business or government entities (holders) for a set period of time, usually five years. If the holder is unable to locate, re-establish contact with the owner and return the asset, it is reported and remitted to the Florida Department of Financial Services, Division of Unclaimed Property. To search for unclaimed property or to claim an account, go online to FLTreasureHunt.gov.
