CFO Jimmy Patronis Appoints D. Ryan West to FIGA Board of Directors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the appointment of D. Ryan West to the Florida Insurance Guaranty Association (FIGA) Board of Directors. FIGA is a nonprofit corporation created by the Florida Legislature in 1970 and services pending claims by or against Florida policyholders of member insurance companies that become insolvent and are ordered liquidated.

D. Ryan West, Lakeland

West is the Senior Director of Physical Damage claims for GEICO, with responsibility for all Physical Damage claims throughout the eastern United States. Prior to his current position, West has worked as Chief Claims Officer, Vice President of Claims Home Office, and Assistant Vice President for claims operations in Florida, New Jersey and New England. He has worked for GEICO since 1992, starting as a claims service representative in GEICO’s Macon, Ga., regional office. Prior to joining GEICO, West served in the United States Coast Guard from 1986 to 1991 as a Petty Officer, serving primarily at U.S. Coast Guard Base Miami Beach and aboard U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Shearwater based in Key West, Fla. West holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Mercer University. He earned an associate in claims from the Insurance Institute of America and is a designated casualty claim law associate.
