Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis announced today an extension of certification deadlines for fire professionals due to Hurricane Michael recovery efforts.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis announced today an extension of certification deadlines for fire professionals due to Hurricane Michael recovery efforts.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Florida’s firefighting community worked tirelessly to aid in Hurricane Michael recovery efforts and I can’t thank these brave men and women enough for the sacrifices they made. It is the least we can do to offer an extension of these certification deadlines to allow adequate time to complete these important trainings. We will continue to support our first responders as they supported us before, during, and after the storm.”
Due to impact of the statewide deployment of Florida’s fire service professionals in response to Hurricane Michael, CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis requested his Bureau of Fire Standards and Training to implement the extension of the renewal period for individuals holding Fire Service Instructor and Fire Inspector certifications.
All certification holders scheduled for renewal between October 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018 have been provided an extension to complete all renewal requirements specific to their certification until March 1, 2019. Any related fees resulting from the certification renewal will be due on or before March 1, 2019.
