TikTok’s own privacy policy states that the video-sharing application records keystroke patterns entered on devices that have downloaded the app. Additionally, China’s 2017 National Intelligence Law requires all companies based in China grant on-demand records access to Chinese intelligence agencies.

Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis released the following statement on a ruling Wednesday by the First District Court of Appeals (DCA) that upheld the constitutionality of a 2016 Florida law placing requirements on life-insurance companies to determine whether policyholders have died and to contact beneficiaries to inform them of the benefits owed to them. If a life insurance company cannot locate, notify and pay the beneficiary, the funds are required to reported and remitted to the state of Florida as unclaimed property. Since taking office in July 2017, CFO Patronis has recovered and returned more than $960 million to Floridians.

Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis was joined by Governor Ron DeSantis, Attorney General Ashley Moody, and Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried in honoring Florida’s 200 fallen firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty during the 'Ringing of the Bell' Ceremony. In 2019, Florida lost three firefighters including Barry Boulton, Sr. Lieutenant, Plantation Fire Department; Brad Gregrich, FF/EMT, DeSoto County Fire Rescue; and Robert D. Tabor, Forestry, Rayonier Corporation.

Recent reports say that the game consists of TikTok users filming themselves dropping coins into mobile phone chargers while plugged into an electrical outlet, causing serious electrical fires and burns. Floridians should also be aware of this new viral challenge.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis released the following statement applauding 2020 legislative efforts by Speaker-designate Chris Sprowls and Senator Kelli Stargel to prohibit life insurance companies from using DNA or genetic testing to determine the type and cost of coverage available to consumers. Senate Bill 1564 and House Bill 1189, which passed the House Health and Human Services Committee today, would prohibit life insurers and long-term care insurers from canceling, limiting, denying coverage, or establishing differentials in premium rates based on an individual’s genetic information.
