TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis released the following statement after hosting a statewide firefighter coronavirus readiness assessment call with leaders from Florida's fire service community.
CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “With the number of confirmed cases growing in Florida, it’s important leaders at all levels remember Florida’s first responders are the ones that may have to respond to infectious disease calls from dispatchers. That’s why we hosted another statewide call with fire chiefs from across Florida to continue to communicate best practices and assess readiness on coronavirus response. Now with more than 20 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state, my office is in constant coordination with federal, state, and local partners to ensure our dedicated first responders have the information and resources needed to fight this deadly virus in our communities. These highly trained men and women serve every day to protect Floridians and I cannot thank them enough for their vital preparedness efforts.”
