TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued the following statement praising Gov. Rick Scott for signing House Bill 1073, streamlining and modernizing the Department of Financial Services (DFS).

 

“As someone who has spent most of my life as a small business owner, I know firsthand how important it is to make sure a business works best for those it serves. This year, we wanted to modernize my office so it works better for the people we serve.

 

“We must shift to a government culture that tears down silos and moves away from outdated ways of doing things. Improving efficiencies not only benefits the people and businesses my office serves, but is also a better way to manage taxpayer dollars.

House Bill 1073 protects and serves Florida consumers in several ways including streamlining the appointment process for non-resident adjusters, preventing those responsible for the failure of any insurance company from serving in a similar role within another company, providing a pathway for better communication between local governments and reducing regulatory costs for licensees.
