CFO Jimmy Patronis Announces Arrest of Alleged Hallandale Beach Arsonist

MIAMI – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis announced the arrest of Michael Artison after allegedly setting fire to an automotive repair and tire shop in Hallandale Beach. In addition, the fire spread to a nearby residence.
CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “Arson is a costly crime, which results in a tremendous amount of property damage in Florida each year as well as endangers the lives of Florida families. My office is committed to protecting Floridians by fighting back against those who commit these crimes. I’m proud of the diligent work by my arson detectives, which helped to bring this suspect to justice.”
On August 11, 2021, the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Department requested the assistance of the Division of Investigative and Forensic Services’ Bureau of Fire, Arson, and Explosives Investigations (BFAEI) to assist with determining the origin and cause of a structure fire at 621 W Pembroke Road in Hallandale Beach, Florida. At the scene, arson detectives performed an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fire. As a result of a joint effort with the Hallandale Beach Police Department and the BFAEI, an arrest warrant was issued for Michael Artison for the structure fire.
Michael Artison was arrested on August 23, 2021 by the Hallandale Beach Police Department and is currently being held in the Broward County Jail. Artison is being charged with arson, and if convicted, he could face up to 30 years in prison.
