CFO Jimmy Patronis Appoints Narendra Dereddy to the NICA Board of Directors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the appointment of Dr. Narendra Dereddy to the Florida Birth-Related Neurological Injury Compensation Association (NICA) Board of Directors, serving as a representative of hospitals. This past legislative session, CFO Patronis submitted many reforms to the Legislature regarding the efficiency with which NICA fulfills its obligations to provide medical care to children with the NICA program. As a result, the Legislature passed SB 1786, which became law July 1, 2021, 766.315(1), Florida Statutes. Additionally, the new law made changes to the board of directors, increasing the board from five to seven members with qualifying attributes.

Today, I am pleased to appoint Dr. Narendra Dereddy, and I know his years in the medical community, and extensive neonatology experience, will be a tremendous addition to helping these children. I sincerely appreciate Dr. Dereddy’s willingness to serve the state of Florida and the families who participate in the NICA program.”

Dereddy currently serves as the Medical Director for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Medical Director for Care Transformation and the Medical Director of Neonatology at AdventHealth. He attended medical school at Banaras Hindu University in India and completed his residency and fellowship at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center at New York Medical College. Additionally, he is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics. His appointment is effective immediately and expires August 31, 2024
