Tallahassee, Fla. - Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis launched C.L.I.M.B., Children Learning the Importance of Money Basics, a new financial literacy program for youth ages 10 and under.

 

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “A majority of teachers believe that financial education should start in elementary school and this program helps make that possible. As a community, we have a responsibility to teach our kids about finances as early as possible. Knowing the basics of money and how it works will have lasting, positive impacts on their life.”

 

The program is specifically tailored to children ages 10 and under. C.L.I.M.B. follows its main character Sammie, the Saving Scottie, through a series of animated videos and books as he learns and teaches children the basics of money management. C.L.I.M.B. presents topics such as saving, budgeting and financial decision-making, in a fun, engaging way that will resonate with young children. Sammie shares tips on why being responsible with your money matters.

 

The program features three complementary books to accompany the program’s animated videos that are available for download and ordering. An activity book book and coloring pages pages are also available to assist in starting the conversation about money basics.
