TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – This evening, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis issued the following statement upon the Florida Department of Health’s confirmation that two individuals in Florida are “presumptively positive” for the coronavirus (COVID19).
CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “Florida’s first responders have been preparing for the coronavirus for weeks and stand ready to protect our communities. My office has hosted several statewide calls and roundtables with the Florida fire service community to ensure they have the tools they need to combat this virus. As information continues to rapidly flow, we’ll continue coordinating with fire chiefs and other first responders to ensure they’re getting their questions answered. Additionally, the State Fire Marshal’s Office administers the State Emergency Response Plan, so we can facilitate the movements of critical assets in case a region needs it.”
