PANAMA CITY, Fla. - CFO Jimmy Patronis released the following statement today, applauding Governor Rick Scott's call for telecommunications companies to treat disaster impacted residents fairly in the wake of the storm:

 

"The Governor is right on point when he says telecommunications companies, like Verizon, need to take proactive measures immediately to not only restore service but to demonstrate goodwill to disaster-area residents. I am hopeful that his call to action today will produce immediate results for people here who have already lost so much.

 

"Governor Scott asked that telecommunications companies without service allow customers to switch to another provider at no cost; he asked that those without service not be billed for October; and that a detailed timeline explaining the plan to restore their service be quickly made public. Thank you, Governor Scott for your continued hard work on behalf of the Panhandle."
