CFO Patronis Applauds Passage of Firefighter Inquiries and Investigations Bill from Senate
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued the following statement on the Senate’s passage of House Bill 31, sponsored by Representative Busatta Cabrera. House Bill 31 enables certain provisions of the Firefighter Bill of Rights to be aligned more closely with the Police Bill of Rights when it comes to internal investigations. House Bill 31 now heads to the Governor’s desk for signature.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “As CFO and State Fire Marshal, I am proud to support Florida’s 45,000 firefighters and ensure measures are put in place that protects these heroes as they risk their lives to serve Florida communities. This legislation will guarantee firefighters have afforded rights during internal investigations, which is a step in the right direction. Thank you to Senator Hooper and Representative Busatta Cabrera for proposing this legislation and for all your hard work to get this bill to the finish line. I look forward to Governor DeSantis signing House Bill 31 and enacting these critical protections for our first responders.”
