**Consumer Alert** CFO Jimmy Patronis: Prevent Drug Abuse on National Drug Take Back Day

10/25/2019
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis is encouraging Floridians to take advantage of National Drug Take Back Day tomorrow, Saturday, October 26 and give back your unused or expired prescription drugs and vape products for proper disposal. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Take Back Day is a nationwide event which provides an opportunity for Americans to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “This Saturday, I encourage all Floridians to bring their unused and expired prescription drugs to a drop off location near you during National Drug Take Back Day. Studies show an estimated 9.9 million Americans misuse prescription drugs and many of them are obtained through family and friends. This day is an important opportunity to prevent drug misuse and keep Florida’s communities healthy.”

Floridians can find an official collection site near you by using the DEA locator. Most sites will be open between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., but times may vary by location. Participation is anonymous, and for the first time, you can also drop off vape pens and e-cigarette cartridges so they can be disposed of properly
