Apopka, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis delivered remarks at the City of Apopka 9/11 Memorial Ceremony. On the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States, CFO Patronis joined Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson, Apopka Fire Chief Sean Wylam and Apopka Police Chief Mike McKinley at the event and spoke to residents of the City of Apopka about the impact 9/11 has had on our country and how it is vital that students learn about the history of the attacks in the classroom.

CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “Our great country was forever changed on September 11th, 2001 and we will never forget the lives lost, the lives saved, and bravery of our first responders that day. It’s vital that we ensure that schools across our country teach our students about the history of the attacks of September 11th. Our children are the future, and we must impart on them how blessed they are to live in the greatest country in the world and what it takes to keep America safe. On this solemn day, let us continue to pray for the families who were affected by this unthinkable tragedy and for our first responders who continue to selflessly serve our communities in times of their greatest need.”

Apopka Mayor Bryan Nelson said, “September 11th will be forever etched in our memories. Let us never forget the sacrifices made by our first responders that day.”
