TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis joined local officials and fire chiefs to award grants to multiple Panhandle fire stations through the Florida Firefighter Assistance Grant Program established by the Florida Legislature. Grants were awarded to the cities of Esto and Wausau in Northwest Florida.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “I was honored today to present these two Panhandle fire departments with over $38,000 from our firefighter grant program. These funds will help provide financial assistance for our brave firefighters to improve safety as they continue to provide top-notch rescue services to their communities. Florida’s firefighters are the heroes who pledge themselves to the greater good and there are no words that can express our appreciation for the risks they take to protect our families.”
Senator George Gainer said, “I applaud CFO Patronis and thank him for his continued leadership in assisting our firefighters in Northwest Florida. Our firefighters and first responders are the backbone of these rural communities and these grants will aid in protecting our citizens.”
Representative Brad Drake said, “These grants will go a long way in supporting our brave firefighting community in the Panhandle and give them the tools they need to further protect our communities. Thank you to CFO Patronis and the State Fire Marshal's Office for their hard work in supporting our first responders.”
