PENSACOLA, Fla.— Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis was joined by members of the Pensacola fire service community to announce the passage of legislation that provides cancer benefits to Florida’s firefighters. The legislation passed unanimously by the Florida Legislature this year and was officially signed into law by Governor DeSantis on Friday, May 3, 2019.

 

CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis said, “Today, I was proud to join the dedicated men and women of the Pensacola Fire Department to celebrate the passage of cancer coverage benefits for our firefighters. Florida’s firefighters serve our communities with dedication and selflessness. They rush into the fire when others rush out. This year, the Florida Legislature took action and made a commitment to our firefighters that we will support them when they battle cancer.
