TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis attended the Florida TaxWatch 2019 Productivity Awards today and accepted an award on behalf of the Department of Financial Services for response efforts related to Hurricane Michael.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, "Almost 10 months ago, Hurricane Michael devastated the Florida Panhandle. Immediately following the storm, we had boots on the ground, including Florida’s Urban Search and Rescues teams dispatched to the hardest hit areas to go door-by-door to provide assistance to those in need. Our licensing division worked to license an additional 3,700 emergency adjusters. My Division of Consumer Services not only handled every call that came through after the storm, but we also set up insurance villages so local families could get one-on-one help from our office and their insurance company and start rebuilding their lives a little sooner. 

"To date we have recovered over $27.2 million on behalf of Hurricane Michael victims. I couldn’t be prouder of my DFS staff and their hard work for those impacted by Hurricane Michael. On behalf of the Department of Financial Services, thank you to Florida TaxWatch for this great honor."
