TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the Senate Judiciary Committee passing Senate Bill 72, which provides civil liability for damages relating to COVID-19.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “It was an honor to support Senate Bill 72 this afternoon to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Over the last few months, I have hosted events throughout the state to advocate for meaningful liability protections for our business community. I’ve now visited businesses in every corner of the state: Pensacola, Gainesville, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, West Palm Beach, Ft. Myers and Miami. My top priority this legislative session will be to help shield businesses – good actors – from frivolous lawsuits. Thank you to Senator Brandes for sponsoring this good bill, I look forward to working together to see this through to the finish line.”
