Patronis Collects Donations

CARRABELLE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis joined the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office to collect donations for Texas residents impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Franklin County Sheriff A.J. “Tony” Smith organized a weeklong donation drive that is accepting donations through the weekend. Early next week, volunteers will combine donations from three Franklin County locations and head to Texas.

“I’m proud to do my part to help those in Texas who have lost so much, and I appreciate Sheriff Smith for inviting me to be part of this awesome volunteer opportunity,” said CFO Patronis. “Our Department collected two trucks full of goods, and I’m grateful for the generosity that our team and all Floridians have shown in helping their fellow Americans.”

"The job with the Sheriff’s Office is more than just arresting people,” said Sheriff Smith. “It's about helping people, no matter where they are and we know they'd do the same for us here in Franklin County.”

The Sheriff’s Office is collecting cases of water, canned goods (preferably with pop tops), diapers and canned baby foods, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, mosquito spray, first aid kits, and new or gently worn clothing. Donations are currently being accepted at the following locations: ACE Hardware in Carrabelle, located at 712 Avenue A N; Eastpoint Taylor Building Supply, located at 268 US-98 in Eastpoint; and Apalachicola’s 13-Mile Seafood Market, located at 227 Water Street.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has arranged designated delivery locations for these donated items. Floridians looking for ways to get involved with Hurricane Harvey recovery efforts are encouraged to support via monetary donations made to reputable charitable organizations, such as the American Red Cross. Consumers can check to see if a charitable organization is registered with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services by visiting FloridaConsumerHelp.com.
