Quarterly Practical Firefighter Test Dates

NOTE: APPLICATION DEADLINE IS 30 DAYS PRIOR TO TEST DATE

2023 TEST DATES:

  • February 6 - 10, 2023
  • May 8 - 12, 2023
  • August 7 - 11, 2023
  • November 6 - 10, 2023
EXAMS START PROMPTLY AT 7:30 A.M.

The breakdown for the Monday - Friday schedule is:

  • Monday: Out of State Equivalency applicants. A maximum of 40 students will be admitted.
  • Tuesday: Minimum Standards Retention Examinations. A maximum of 40 students will be admitted.
  • Wednesday (as required): Minimum Standards Retention Examinations. A maximum of 40 students will be admitted.
  • Thursday: Retest of Practical Minimum Standards Examinations for applicants who have failed "pieces and parts" of the original Practical Examinations. A maximum of 40 students will be admitted.
  • Friday: Reserved


  • IMPORTANT:

    If you have scheduled an examination and find that you are unable to attend your scheduled examination; you must notify the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training (the Bureau) at least 10 business days prior to your test date.

    To pay your initial examination fee, please go online to www.floridastatefirecollege.org using your student profile, click the Applications in Progress tab, and click the status of the application to pay the $30.00 fee.


    Using the Online Application Process

    Login and password are required. If you have forgotten them, please contact the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training at (352) 369-2800.

    NOTE: If you hold any fire related state certifications, you already have a profile and do not need to create another one.

    Go to APPLY.
    Choose "Certification Exam" in the drop down menu.

    Click the radio button, initial exam, retest, etc. then choose the desired test type.
    Click CONTINUE

    On the next screen, verify that you chose the correct exam
    Click CONTINUE

    On the next screen Click YES, if you received your training in Florida.
    NOTE: The system will stop you if you received your training from out of state. You will need to contact the Bureau.

    Verify the information on the demographic page and answer your security questions.
    Click CONTINUE

    On the next screen: the system will ask you to fax, attach or mail supporting documents with a check box for each. If your supporting documents are already in the system (such as courses that show under course history),

    Select "TO BE MAILED" and continue.

    Should you have documents to fax, mail or attach, then attach if possible, or fax to (352) 732-1374.

    When you fax, please write the following on the cover sheet,
    "SEE ONLINE APPLICATION"

    The next screen is an information page explaining Pearsonvue,
    Click CONTINUE

    On the next screen, Special Considerations, Click NO, unless there is a medical problem for which you would require ADA assistance.

    The next screen is an information page (Pearsonvue…after approval of application).
    Click CONTINUE

    The next screen is the Application Completed screen.

    Click FINISH.
