Community Risk Reduction
The Division of State Fire Marshal has created a compilation or centralized repository of CRR resources for all of our partners and fire departments across the state, called the Florida CRR Warehouse. It includes safety materials, program design resources, opportunities to connect and collaborate, as well as continuing education options. Use the link on this page to apply for access. If you want to share an accomplishment or resource or can't find what you're looking for - let us know!
NEW: Florida's Community Risk Reduction Designation Program
Introducing Fire Smart Florida; a new designation program that highlights departments that integrate prevention, data, and planning into their daily operations. The program includes three levels of recognition - each reflecting increasing levels of performance, documentation, and impact. Designations are awarded annually based on criteria established by the Florida Division of State Fire Marshal. Fire Smart Florida will also provide recognition for key achievements throughout the year such as: Zero Fatalities, Zero Firefighter Injuries, Zero Fatal Drownings, a Percentage Reduction in Structure Fires, and more!
A compilation of resources in one convenient place, including opportunities for community building, networking, and training.

Community Risk Reduction Planning GuideThe first level, Community Advocate, acknowledges departments that are actively implementing CRR practices and contributing reliable data to support statewide risk analysis.
The second level, Community Leader, recognizes departments using data and planning to drive meaningful, sustained risk reduction efforts. These departments demonstrate a deeper integration of CRR into operations by using assessments and plans consistent with NFPA1300.
Annually, one department from the Community Leaders will be selected as a Community Champion. This award recognizes one department's excellence, serving as a model for the rest of the state and demonstrating what is possible when CRR is fully integrated into a department's culture, strategy, and daily operations.
