This week, I urged Floridians to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their homes ahead of the tropical wave heading to the eastern Gulf of Mexico, that could potentially become a tropical storm. As Floridians are well aware, storms are incredibly unpredictable and can strengthen quickly. Experts are saying that landfall could occur between late Sunday and early Monday and could be anywhere from Apalachicola to the Tampa Bay area, so everyone in that area should be prepared for a storm. I encourage you to begin preparing now by visiting my PrepareFL.com website, which serves as a one-stop-shop for disaster preparedness information and tips to help Floridians ensure they are prepared to weather a storm and recover afterwards. Stay safe and prepare now, Florida!
On Monday, I issued a directive to the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS), barring the use of censorship and blacklisting services, like NewsGuard Technologies, Inc., that attach "credibility ratings" to news sources. Such ratings downgrade news and information with a partisan bias and are intended to diminish reputations and advertising revenue. My directive is aimed at holding censorship and blacklisting groups accountable. This year we'll be launching lucrative media campaigns on protecting the public from insurance fraud and educating Floridians on the services DFS provides, and we need to maximize returns on those dollars. What we don't need is so-called-media-monitoring groups being middlemen and needlessly burning up cash when we're trying to get the best returns on investment.
Lastly, I issued an In Case You Missed It press release highlighting a Politico news article in which I spoke on the growing number of states, including Florida, that are forcing public employee pension funds to divest from China. China has proven to be a major concern when it comes to human rights violations and the potential threat China poses to the U.S. Taxpayers and state lawmakers simply don't want to invest in a country that's not being transparent or doesn't have the best interest of Floridians at heart.

Great tour today of the @CheneyBrothers facilities in Sarasota. What an amazing Florida and family-owned business that’s been in operation for nearly 100 years. Keep up the great work! pic.twitter.com/Er0fVavF5w
