CFO Seal in Gold

Illinois Businesses Should Come to Florida

8/11/2023

On Wednesday, I issued a letter to Illinois businesses outlining the dangers of a recent law passed by the State of Illinois to remove cash bail requirements. I have spent the majority of my professional life in the restaurant business and have a special appreciation for the struggles and sacrifices of maintaining a small business. I can only imagine how difficult it must be keeping the doors open as crime runs rampant while so-called "leaders" are making insane decisions like eliminating cash bail in the name of "social justice reform." As CFO, my office licenses bail bondsmen throughout the state - and they are critical to ensuring those that are facing charges appear in court. If you get rid of cash bail, good luck on bringing criminals to justice.

Lastly, on Monday I announced the arrest of two public adjusters who were involved in a $136,000 insurance fraud scheme in Miami. The suspects allegedly submitted false insurance claims related to a homeowner's air conditioner, water roof leak and tarp installation, all in order to defraud Citizens Property Insurance Corporation (Citizens). One of my top priorities is cracking down on fraud and scams that drive up insurance rates for ever Florida policyholder. It is a very costly crime, and it is especially despicable when committed by a licensed insurance adjuster trying to game the system.
