Standing Ready to Assist Storm Victims

4/28/2023

This week, I provided resources for those impacted by the powerful storms and tornadoes that we saw touch down in the Florida Panhandle. As Floridians are recovering from these storms, my office stands ready to assist consumers with all insurance questions and concerns. Unfortunately, we know all too well that after a disaster hits, we see bad actors come out of the woodwork looking to make a quick buck off of those effected by the storm. Floridians have to make sure to verify the license of contractors prior to hiring them to ensure that they are registered to conduct business in Florida and beware of offers for post-storm repairs or services that require a cash payment. Please visit PrepareFL.com or call 1-877-MY-FL-CFO, for vital storm recovery and fraud prevention tips.

Text saying

On Tuesday, I announced an arrest in Marion County, in which an individual allegedly set three fires in the West Marion Hospital in Ocala. The suspect was arrested on four counts of Arson and one count of Battery on a Firefighter/EMT. Arson is a crime that we take very seriously in Florida, but committing arson at a hospital is especially despicable. Thank you to my fire investigators and the Marion County Sheriff's Office for helping apprehend this suspect and ensure the safety of everyone at the hospital.

Lasty, I recognized this week as Military Saves Week, and I encourage all of Florida's active military members and veterans to pay off debt and prepare for the future by creating an achievable savings plan. As Florida's CFO, I want to ensure Florida remains the best state in the nation for veterans to live, work, and raise a family, and that begins with building a savings plan and securing a healthy, fiscal future for our heroes in uniform.

Sincerely,
