CFO Jimmy Patronis Appoints Melvin Pope to FLHIGA Board of Directors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis announced the appointment of Melvin Pope to the Florida Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association (FLHIGA) Board of Directors. Created in 1979 by the Florida Legislature, the FLHIGA is composed of all insurers licensed to sell direct life insurance, accident and health insurance, and certain annuities in the state of Florida. If a member insurer is found to be insolvent and is ordered to be liquidated by a court, FLHIGA provides protection to Florida residents who are holders of life and health insurance policies and certain annuities with the insolvent insurer.

Melvin Pope is the Managing Partner for Financial Partners of North Florida and has been a licensed life and health agent since 1976. Pope was a past president of the Tallahassee Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and recognized May 2006 by the Tallahassee Democrat Business Matters as the 5th largest regional independent insurance firm by revenue with all lines. He is a founding member of the Forbes/Shook top 250 financial securities advisors nationwide 2020-2023. He was born and raised in Tallahassee, attended Leon High School, and graduated with a degree in Finance and Management from Florida State University in 1981.
