CFO Patronis Applauds Passage of My Safe Florida Home Program Expansion

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the passage of House Bill 881. The legislation related to My Safe Florida Home Program, by Senator Jim Boyd and Representative Chip LaMarca, will now move on to the Governor for signature. HB 881 will expand eligibility requirements so more Floridians can protect their homes against storms and reduce insurance premiums.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “As the 2023 hurricane season approaches, Floridians are looking for ways to harden their homes and reduce their insurance costs. The ‘My Safe Florida Home’ program does just that, and I am proud to support HB 881 which will expand upon eligibility requirements. Our agency is also requesting another $100 million in funding for the program so that Floridians can take advantage of the savings and protect their biggest investment from storms – their homes. Thank you Senator Boyd and Representative LaMarca for their hard work and due diligence to usher this legislation through the process and onto the Governor’s desk.”

Senator Jim Boyd said, “Thank you to CFO Patronis for all of his support in the development and passage of this good piece of legislation in the Florida Senate. This bill will allow Floridians to not only improve their homes in preparation for hurricane season, but will help reduce their property insurance rates.”

Representative Chip LaMarca said, “After major destruction to so many residential properties left by Hurricane Ian, Floridians want to harden their homes to make sure their families are kept safe from the next storm. I want to thank CFO Patronis for entrusting me with this legislation and for all his support as it passed through the Florida House.”
