CFO Jimmy Patronis Highlights Success of My Safe Florida Home Program in Palm Beach County

Lake Worth, Fla. – Today, at a press conference in Lake Worth, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis highlighted the success of the My Safe Florida Home program and efforts to refund the initiative during the 2024 Legislative Session. The My Safe Florida home program provides free home inspections and mitigation grants so Floridians can harden their homes against storms. This legislative session, the CFO is advocating for an additional $200 million towards the My Safe Florida Home program to allow Floridians to protect their homes against storms and reduce insurance premiums. The CFO is also advocating for an extension of the Home Hardening Sales Tax Exemption, allowing homeowners to save on storm mitigation improvements like doors and windows.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “The My Safe Florida Home Program has been a huge success in helping Florida insurance consumers reduce their premiums and protect their homes from future storms. As I’ve said before, Mother Nature loves paradise and it’s not if, but when Florida experiences another major storm. I’m proud to work with the Florida Legislature this session to fight for an additional $200 million in funding so that Floridians can continue to strengthen their homes by installing impact-resistant items like windows, doors, and garage doors. These home hardening improvements are vital to cutting insurance costs and will help you protect your biggest investment – your home.
