TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis provided information and resources for Florida residents who may be impacted by the torrential rain and flooding throughout South Florida last week. On Friday, CFO Patronis visited the Broward County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to assess storm recovery needs. Listed below are insurance claims contacts for the top automobile insurance companies in the South Florida area and resources from the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Following storms in South Florida last week that inundated communities with torrential rain and flooding, it’s important for policyholders to know who to contact to start the insurance claims process. For those residents with coverage for their home under the National Flood Insurance Program, contact your agent immediately to file a claim or visit If your automobile suffered damage as a result of flooding, please contact your auto insurer to determine if you have coverage for the loss. If you have any issues filing a claim or need additional insurance assistance, please call my Insurance Consumer Helpline at 1-877-MY-FL-CFO (693-5236) to talk to an insurance specialist. Residents must also beware of post-storm fraud and bad actors looking to make a quick buck from this storm. Always ensure you work with a reputable, licensed contractor or restoration professional and never feel forced to sign away your insurance rights or pay by cash only. These are signs of fraud, and you should report it immediately by calling my Insurance Fraud Hotline at 1-800-378-0445 or visit”
