12/23/2025
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Blaise Ingoglia highlighted the major accomplishments of his office and the Department of Financial Services (DFS) in 2025. CFO Ingoglia was appointed in July by Governor Ron DeSantis and in only five months of being in office, CFO Ingoglia has identified $1.86 billion in excessive spending in local governments, returned money back to Floridians through unclaimed property, supported Florida’s first responders and placed a renewed focus on DFS Criminal Investigations Division to arrest criminals committing fraud. Additionally, the CFO has focused on being an advocate for Florida insurance policyholders and insurer accountability.
Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia said, “This year was about delivering not just promises, but real results for Floridians across the state. Following my appointment to the position of Chief Financial Officer, I hit the ground running with a focus on supporting Florida taxpayers by exposing wasteful spending, fighting for property tax relief, advocating for Florida insurance policyholders, and working to ensure that criminals who commit fraud or enter this country illegally are arrested and held accountable. I am excited to continue my work for the taxpayers by strengthening government transparency, supporting our first responders across the state, and returning money to the pockets of Floridians.”
Through the Florida Agency for Fiscal Oversight (FAFO), CFO Ingoglia has reviewed eleven local governments to find over $1.86 billion in excessive, wasteful spending. His mission continues to bring increased transparency and accountability to taxpayers across Florida. The highest amount of reckless spending found this year was in Palm Beach County, with over $344 million, and the lowest amount found was in the City of Orlando with $22 million.
CFO Ingoglia has also consistently advocated on behalf of Florida insurance policyholders. He joined the Office of Insurance Regulation to announce more than $2.5 million in fines against insurance companies for claims-handling operations following Hurricanes Ian and Idalia. CFO Ingoglia announced 17 new insurers have entered the Florida insurance market, while auto insurers have lowered insurance rates and even provided rebates back to policyholders in 2025. This success is a direct result of the historic legislative reforms Florida passed while CFO Ingoglia served as a state senator.
Through the Division of Unclaimed Property, CFO Ingoglia has returned over $248 million back to Floridians, with a record $77 million returned in October. Unclaimed property is held by DFS and happens when a financial or tangible asset is unknown/inactive. CFO Ingoglia invites all Floridians to check FLTreasureHunt.Gov to search for their potential lost assets in the upcoming year.
The CFO also serves as Florida’s State Fire Marshal. CFO Ingoglia has continually supported Florida’s first responders this year by presenting 40 checks to support multiple fire departments, volunteer fire departments, and others with funding for community fire and emergency medical services. This includes purchases for fire equipment, new fire/EMS stations, and public safety improvements. By providing over $14.7 million in funding, this money will help ensure that Florida’s firefighters have the proper tools and training to do their job safely.
While serving on the State Board of Immigration Enforcement as a member of Florida’s Cabinet, CFO Ingoglia has approved $20.8 million for immigration enforcement throughout the state. Since then, CFO Ingoglia has presented 13 local law enforcement agencies with the reimbursement funds to assist them in their efforts to fight back against the dangerous impacts of illegal immigration.
Additionally, the DFS Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has assisted in arresting 43 criminal illegal aliens since July. CFO Ingoglia has worked to bolster partnerships with local law enforcement agencies and DFS investigators have provided additional assistance to local and state law enforcement agencies with anti-illegal immigration operations and fraud investigations. DFS investigators have also made arrests in multiple fraud cases, including workers' compensation insurance fraud, and auto and medical insurance fraud. DFS investigators encourage any law enforcement agency that needs additional assistance with financial fraud cases or anti-illegal immigration operations to reach out to our office.
As the CFO heads into 2026, he has announced several legislative proposals to protect Floridians by fighting back against illegal immigration, establishing FAFO in Florida Statute, and creating budget standardization for local governments across the state to increase transparency and accountability to the taxpayers.
