TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Florida’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis' office will host a Be Scam Smart Webinar in Spanish on Wednesday, September 18 at 12 p.m. It's CFO Patronis' goal to help inform Florida’s Hispanic communities about ways to avoid fraud and scams, especially those targeting Spanish speakers.
 
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Florida is rich in diversity, and we must arm every resident with the tools they need to avoid becoming victims. Experts say that scams go unreported more often in Hispanic communities and some scams may specifically target Spanish speaking individuals. This is unacceptable, and it's important that all Floridians are provided with information on the latest scam tactics and how to report fraud so we can bring these bad actors to justice.
 
“My office has held more than 50 Be Scam Smart Workshops statewide since 2018, and I'm pleased to offer this webinar in Spanish to provide information to the public on ways to protect themselves from fraud.”
