Grievance Procedure for Civil Rights Complaints Unrelated to Employment

This procedure outlines how the Department of Financial Services (DFS) handles non-employment-related complaints under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act.

Any individual may file a grievance if they believe they were discriminated against based on a disability when receiving or participating in a service, activity, program, or benefit from DFS. A grievance must contain detailed information about the alleged discrimination. Please include your contact information in the grievance (e.g., your name, address, phone number, and/or email). Grievances must be filed within 60 calendar days of the incident. You may submit your grievance by mail, email, or phone:

By mail:
Florida Department of Financial Services
Bureau of Human Resource Management
200 E Gaines Street
Tallahassee, FL 32399

By phone:
Phone: (850) 413-2036
Fax: (850) 413-2568

Within a reasonable period, the DFS ADA Coordinator or designee will review and respond to the grievance to discuss possible resolutions. The ADA Coordinator must take all necessary steps to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
