Notice of Receivership
Sunrise Healthcare Plan Inc. ("Sunrise") was placed in liquidation on August 11, 1997. Proof of claim forms were mailed in April 1998. The deadline for filing a claim was October 1, 1998. If you have submitted a proof of claim form, you will be notified, in writing, of the Receiver's recommendation on your claim.
Claim Evaluations
On November 2, 2010, the First Interim Report on Claims was filed with the Court in the estate of Sunrise. On November 3, 2010, the Court issued an order approving the report. A total of 1,972 claims were filed in the Sunrise estate within Classes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8. Claims in Classes 1 through 6 were evaluated but there was no evaluation completed for claims in the other classes due to limited assets in this estate. On November 19, 2010, Notices of Determination ("Notices") were mailed to these claimants. The Notice informed them of the Receiver's recommendations concerning the classification and amount of their claim, along with instructions on how to proceed if a claimant objected to the recommendations. Objections are required to be filed by the claimant, in writing, with both the Court and the Receiver and postmarked by January 3, 2011. Objections filed after that date were not considered.
In July 2011, the Receiver mailed distribution checks to Class 1 and 2 claimants representing 100% of the adjudicated amount owed each claimant. The total of funds distributed was $12,922.23.
In December 2012, the Receiver mailed distribution checks to Class 6 claimants representing 27.8951% of the adjudicated amount owed each claimant. The total of funds distributed was $3,145,786.44.
On May 3, 2013, the Court approved an order, to be effective May 15, 2013, discharging the Receiver from any further responsibilities regarding Sunrise Healthcare Plan, Inc. and closing the estate. The total amount of funds distributed to claimants over the life of the estate was $3,158,708.67.
Estate Closed
The Department was discharged of all of its responsibilities in administering this estate and the estate was closed at 11:59 PM on May 15, 2013.
