CFO Jimmy Patronis: Pulling the Plug on TikTok in Florida K-12 Schools
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis issued a statement following the passage of House Bill 379 which prohibits the access of certain social media applications, such as TikTok on public school devices for K-12 classrooms. This year, the CFO advocated for a ban on TikTok from Florida’s K-12 schools and Universities.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “TikTok is nothing more than digital fentanyl and has no place in Florida’s schools. It rots our children’s brains and distracts them from learning. It also poses a major security risk to Floridians and our educational institutions. I applaud Senator Yeager and Representative Burgess for their hard work to protect our children and our schools. Left unchecked, social media can be a real threat, and we cannot allow it to continue to target Florida’s youth and used to steal our valuable information.”
