CFO and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis Assesses Recovery Efforts Following Broward County Flooding

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Today, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and State Fire Marshal Jimmy Patronis visited the Emergency Operations Center in Ft. Lauderdale to meet with local and state officials from the Department of Emergency Management (DEM) and the Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to discuss the recent flooding in Broward County. The CFO also assessed damages in the area. Additionally, earlier today, the CFO announced that he activated his Disaster Fraud Action Strike Team (DFAST) to protect Floridians from storm-related fraud following recent devastating flooding in the area.

CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “It’s been nearly a week following the devastating flooding in Broward County and I was in Ft. Lauderdale today to assess the ongoing recovery efforts. A huge thank you to our first responders who are working around the clock to get Broward County residents the resources they need to get back on their feet as soon as possible. We will continue to work together with our state partners and local officials to ensure these residents make a full recovery.
