CFO Sink to Visit Pensacola, Mobile for Emergency Briefings & Aerial Tour of Oil Spill

*TODAY* CFO SINK TO VISIT PENSACOLA, MOBILE FOR EMERGENCY BRIEFINGS & AERIAL TOUR OF OIL SPILL
PENSACOLA – Florida CFO Alex Sink will receive a briefing on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill at the Escambia County Emergency Operations Center this morning at 8:15 AM CDT. Immediately following the briefing, CFO Sink will announce three proactive state and federal actions that must be taken in order to better protect Florida’s economy.
CFO Sink will then travel to the Mobile Regional Airport in Mobile, Alabama, where she will receive a U.S. Coast Guard aerial tour of the oil spill at 12:00 PM CDT, followed by a briefing at the Deepwater Horizon oil spill Unified Command Center in Mobile, Alabama at 1:00 PM CDT.
CFO Sink will later travel to Tallahassee, Florida to participate in a briefing with Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Mike Sole and Department of Emergency Management Director David Halstead at the State Emergency Operations Center at 4:30 PM EDT.
CFO Sink will hold a media availability at 4:15 PM EDT prior to the briefing.

Last week CFO Sink sent a letter to the Assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change, addressing the urgent need for continued coordination to protect Florida from the disastrous oil spill threatening the state’s economy. CFO Sink also urged better prevention to insulate Florida from future spills originating in federal waters.
