ORLANDO, Fla.– As a part of his
Prepare Florida initiative, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Jimmy Patronis was joined by Mayor Buddy Dyer and members of Urban Search & Rescue Florida Task Force 4 (FL-TF4) in Orlando today to urge Floridians to prepare for disasters now before the next hurricane takes aim at Florida.
Experts have predicted an active 2019 Hurricane Season with the possibility of up to four major hurricanes.
CFO Jimmy Patronis said, “Nine months ago today, Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Panhandle, showing Floridians first-hand the devastation these storms can bring to our communities. When disaster strikes, I am grateful to have our dedicated Urban Search & Rescue Teams ready to respond immediately to keep us safe in the aftermath of devastation.
“I was proud to stand today with the brave men and women of Task Force 4 who train year-round so they can serve us when disaster strikes. We are just weeks away from the peak of Hurricane season in August and
experts are predicting possible tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico this week. I’m encouraging all Floridians to act now and be prepared if a major storm hits the Sunshine State. It is important to ensure you are covered now before a storm hits. We must not wait until a storm takes aim at the state, prepare now, Florida!”
