Bureau of Public Assistance Fraud

On the state level, the Bureau partners with the Department of Children and Families, the Agency for Health Care Administration, the Department of Health, and the Department of Education’s Office of Early Learning to investigate fraud in programs administered by those departments. On the federal level, the Bureau partners with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Services, the Social Security Administration, and the Department of Health and Human Services to help monitor and regulate fraud within our public assistance programs.

The Bureau of Public Assistance Fraud investigates allegations of

  • Cash Assistance/Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program,
  • Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP),
  • School Readiness and Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten programs,
  • Fraud resulting from Disaster Assistance/Emergency Benefits,
  • Schemes to defraud Social Security Disability Benefits
  • Medicaid Recipient Fraud
